Your Romantic Getaway Guide to Bothell

With warmer weather on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to plan a trip you’ll never forget with someone you can’t wait to make new memories with.

Here’s a list of romantic activities to do, restaurants to indulge in, and places to toast to a love-filled weekend!

Things to do

Whether you’re both looking to relax and wind down or waiting to unleash your inner daredevils, here are a few choice activities for any kind of traveling couple.

Stroll along the Sammamish River Trail, a 10-mile long path that offers magnificent views of the river, Cascade foothills, and Mount Rainier.

Pick up a bouquet of freshly cut blooms at Small River Farm. If you want to take things further, become plant parents and buy a plant together at Yakima Fruit Market and Nursery, which is open from March to October!

Got a kayak or canoe? Bring it to Bothell, where you can drift along the Sammamish River. If you don’t have either, you can rent kayaks at WhatsSup Stand Up Paddleboard and Kayak at the Park at Bothell Landing from late spring to early fall.

Get a blowout at the Bristle and Strand, a dry bar that specializes in finished looks, before heading out for dinner.

Indulge in your sense of adventure by riding a hot air balloon with Over the Rainbow Hot Air Balloon Rides. Enjoy once-in-a-lifetime views of Lake Washington, the Puget Sound, and the Olympic Mountain Range.

Purchase a McMenamins Day Pass at Anderson School and wade in the North Shore Lagoon. After floating in the indoor pool, treat yourselves to a few rounds of specialty rum cocktails at the hotel’s South Seas Pub.

If you’re able to venture out a bit further, visit the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival while the flowers are still in bloom. Don’t forget to take a few couple photos among the millions of tulips.

Places to eat

Bothell’s restaurant scene boasts a wide variety of cuisines from around the world — all within walking distance for you lovebirds to try!

Make reservations for a multiple-course dinner at Amaro Bistro, a cozy Italian restaurant that serves dishes with market-fresh meats, seafood, and produce. Its wine list is extensive, with reds and whites from Italy and the West Coast.

Looking for dishes to share? Poquitos serves notable appetizers like the Jalapeño Queso and Tres Amigos. The Mexican restaurant’s tacos are where it’s at — their Baja Fish Tacos are out of this world!

For farm-to-table fare at a modern bistro, head to The Cottage. The Bothell staple serves beautiful cheese and charcuterie plates, handmade pasta, delicious entrées, including Salmon & Rock Shrimp Louie and Pan-seared Duck Breast. End your dinner on a sweet note with their Baileys Bread Pudding!

Spice up your weekend by dining at Chantanee Thai. The family-owned Thai spot brings authentic Southeast Asian cuisine to Bothell. Keep an eye out for the restaurant’s delicious homemade chili paste, which sets them apart from other Thai spots.

If you’re going to brunch, brunch right. Alexa’s Cafe takes the midmorning ritual seriously, with a hefty menu that features mouthwatering Scrambles, delicious Bennys, and loaded French toasts. While you’re there, check out Market On Main, a grocery offshoot of Alexa’s, and grab a few culinary souvenirs to remind you of the great weekend.

If you love Indian and Mediterranean cuisines, enjoy both at Bayleaf Bar & Grill. The restaurant seamlessly blends both in dishes like their Tikka Lamb Kababs and Mutter Paneer.

Cupcakes aren’t meant to be shared, but that shouldn’t stop you from picking a few to taste test together. PinkaBella Cupcakes offers unique cupcake flavors, like Raspberry Cheesecake and Blueberry Pie.
