Bumbershoot 2019: What to Expect, Where to Eat and More

Bumbershoot—the largest music and arts festival in the Pacific Northwest—is an excellent way to bookend the summer holidays and say goodbye to summer.

What’s a bumbershoot? It’s essentially a slang term for an umbrella. It was chosen as a metaphor for the Festival as an umbrella for all of the various arts, performers and music involved.

The festival runs from August 30 – September 1 at Seattle Center and all three days are filled with music, art shows, speakers, exhibitions and food.

Bumbershoot Music and Art

This year’s lineup offers three days of music with The Lumineers, Tyler the Creator, Rezz and Lizzo as headliners. Other acts include School of Rock Seattle, Carly Rae Jepsen, Hippie Sabotage Taking Back Sunday and more.

For an immersive sound and light experience with stunning laser imagery and powerful sound, catch one of the shows in the Pacific Science Center Laser Dome.

Chihuly Garden and Glass

Dance like no one’s watching at Chihuly Garden & Glass in the festival’s silent disco. The disco actually takes place in the garden amongst some of the world’s most iconic glass art.

Bumbershoot Food

Find food and drinks at B-Eats, the festival’s version of a food court/hall, curated by Seattle restauranteur Dan Bugge. Bugge hand-picked the following to serve up the best in food from Seattle at the Fisher Rooftop.
